What murraypatdav doesn't like about The Cafe At Aden:
After a lovely walk we decided to get a latte before heading home. Was shocked when the cups where three quarters full of froth. Went back to complain the young guy never apologised he made two fresh cups i said thank you and the young male staff member turned his back and said nothing so rude . View all feedback.
When the cafe reopened, my daughter and I decided to stop in for morning coffee and a scone. However, upon entering, we were taken aback by the poor quality of the scones on display and decided to leave. Fast forward to yesterday, June 15th, we decided to give the cafe another chance. Unfortunately, we were disappointed once again. We were shocked to see a plate of black pancakes that looked burnt. When I mentioned this to one of the young assistants, she insisted they were just "well fired." The pancakes were small and burnt to a crisp, resembling thin crumpets stuck together. The cheese scone I tried was tasteless and undercooked, while my daughter opted for just a tea as she couldn't stomach the sight of the scones. Gone are the days when the cafe, under private ownership, offered a wide variety of delicious scones and cakes. It was frustrating to see inedible pancakes being sold for over £2 each. Whoever is in charge should make sure the baker receives proper training before serving the public.
The food and pastries are very enjoyable at this restaurant. The coffee is also quite good, which is a nice surprise. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is self-service. It's a great spot for lunch, with outdoor seating available for when the weather is nice.
My family and I visited this restaurant on a Sunday after a nice walk in the area. We enjoyed a delicious soup and sandwich lunch. The soup was outstanding and the sandwich was filled generously. It was very tasty and a great value for the price.

I have fond memories of growing up there and going on school trips to the park. There used to be a cobblers cottage where shoes were made, as well as a dame who baked scones on an open fire. The park also had a working farm and many forest trails. Although some activities may only be available at certain times of the year, I highly recommend this place for a family day out or a solo adventure in the forest. The park has a charming atmosphere, and there are public toilets in the parking lot in case the cafe is closed.
Under same management as Saplin Brae hotel although different target clientel good for a coffee and a cake or soup and sandwich. Again lovely surrounds and woodland walks
