What Andy Wight doesn't like about Luigi's:
Slow service. The food was good. But the whole experience was let down by the service. The restaurant seems to be run by the hotel staff. I'd suggest running the restaurant as an independent business. This review specifically refers to the restaurant at the hotel. Named Luigi's, it is conveniently located for the western part of Aberdeen and the commuter town of Westhill, as it is quite popular on weekends. I have visited a few times, typically on Saturdays or Sundays, and I enjoy it. The food is of good quality and the service is efficient. The menu is quite diverse, with a focus on Italian cuisine as suggested by the name. The wine selection is also decent. The staff are accommodating, as I experienced when dining with a quirky companion who made multiple orders in an unconventional way. The only drawback is the harsh lighting, although I noticed improvements being made last month. The overall decor is a bit dark and heavy, so the bright lighting can be a bit jarring. The restaurant offers cozy side booths that are better lit. The menu also mentions the Albyn restaurant, which I have reviewed on Qype. I suspect there may be a connection between the two establishments due to the quality of the food. The bill came to around £50 for two people with a few drinks, which I consider reasonable for what is offered.
I had a wonderful experience at the Holiday Inn. Both Luigi's and the Glentanar Lounge offer a wide range of delicious dishes on their menus, and every time I have dined there, the food has been outstanding. The service is also top-notch, with friendly and helpful staff.
We had a fantastic dining experience at Luigie's located in the Holiday Inn at Westhill. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, and the variety of options on the Celebration Menu catered to all tastes. We are excited for our next visit.
