Intimate and tastefully decorated restaurant on Correction Wynd, overlooked by the iconic St Nicholas Kirk. Their curated lunch and dinner menus showcase local, seasonal produce including fish, meat and vegetarian options. To start, we got the smoked salmon with feta, peach and mint and the ricotta gnocchi. The gnocchi was tasty, but the delicate smoked salmon was overpowered by its yoghurt sauce drizzle. For mains we had the halibut and the bavette steak. Both were perfectly cooked good sear on the fish; medium rare steak. The home made tartare sauce was delicious. For dessert we opted for the Basque cheesecake with strawberry sorbet and the coconut parfait with chocolate custard. Every dish was beautifully presented. The cocktails were lovely too, especially the hazelnut espresso martini. We anticipated relatively small portions, such is fine dining, but we left with full bellies! Service was friendly and polite, if a little reserved. Although it was a quiet midweek evening when we visited, I would generally recommend booking in advance. We really enjoyed our experience at Moonfish Café and look forward to returning one day to try a different seasonal menu! Price per person: £60–70 Wheelchair accessibility: Narrow pavements and cobbled streets outside. The double doorway seems to be accessible but may have a slight step. Uncertain if there is an accessible toilet.
Love the vibe here, from the window can see the beautiful church. Risotto is absolutely nice. But the passion fruit icecream is far too sour, as someone like sour dessert, it is still too much for me. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £60–70
I did only the barest of research and wanted a light lunch that wasn’t a ‘pub lunch’ and found this beautiful restaurant. Lots on the menus of interest but decided to be firm with myself and opted for the Chicken Rillete it was absolutely delicious and had the tiniest prettiest mushrooms I’ve ever seen but also a lovely deep sauce to balance the dish. Utterley delicious. Service was wonderful and ambience was warm and private. Loved this little place and would recommend. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Lunch Price per person: £10–20
I dined here with my family on December 27, 2017. Unfortunately, we encountered several issues during our visit, including the heating not functioning properly and the electricity tripping multiple times.
