Ate here on a Saturday night with a voucher. Even without a voucher this restaurant offers fantastic value for money on the 2 course meal for 2 people dinner menu. This menu had a decent range of starters and mains on offer. When food was served it was excellent and beautifully presented. Staff were very friendly and attentive. What Elliot S doesn't like about West End Bistro:
Only time I’ve ever been served a steak that stunk of cheese and it had a pepppercorn sauce. Service was deplorable, most guest waited over an hour for service. View all feedback.
Much of my dining experience in Aberdeen is courtesy of the wonderful Spree book app that makes dinner in Granite City a little more affordable. There are not many restaurants that offer a discount coupon on Saturday nights, but the West End Bistro does. That night there was silence, so the service was efficient and friendly. We both went for the chili option and it was delicious. The restaurant is spacious and bright and is a very pleasant place to spend the night. I strongly recommend the purchase of a Spree book app because it gives you a reason to visit hidden gems that you had not necessarily sought, and a reason to come back!
We ate here a Saturday night with a voucher. Even without a voucher this restaurant offers a good value for money in the 2-course meal for 2 people dinner menu. The menu had a good variety of inlets and main dishes. When the food was served it was excellent and very well presented. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The real surprise was the quiet this restaurant was when we left.
We visited this restaurant on a Saturday night and had a disappointing experience. We were not given a choice of wine, my meal was brought to me incorrectly three times, and the staff seemed disinterested in helping us. Additionally, there was a loud function happening in the function suite, noisy sports playing in the bar, and terrible jazz music playing in the restaurant. By the time I was served by the waitress for the third time, I already had a headache. We left without paying, feeling completely disgusted. The food was shockingly bad and overpriced. I would not recommend eating there. Say no to this restaurant.
The bar area is spacious with comfortable chairs and tables scattered around. However, the service was lacking. It's a disappointment as the rest of the hotel staff have been fantastic, welcoming, and helpful.
This isn't a bistro. This is a fully desalmed hotel restaurant. We were eating alone in a moment, on a Saturday night. The chairs are so badly designed that I couldn't move mine closer to the table. The portion of chicken liver paté was very generous, but there were only 5 mini oatmeal cakes. That needs to be rethinked.I chose the soup and asked if it could be vegetarian because the menu said there are vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options available.I was told they were not actually available. It's worth trying, I guess. . . The fish bounce was dark and hard brown, which suggests an excessive cooking or oil that needed to be changed. The soft peas were whole peas. The fries were pretty dark and only mixed inside. That dish should not have come out of the kitchen. My partner was so disappointed that the chef considered it acceptable that he could not be bothered to complain. The amount of food left on your plate at the end of our meal should have given a hint. . . My dish of spaghetti with cream and very few fungi was fine. The waiter was attentive and pleasant. If, when participating in the Itison scheme, the administration team hopes to attract the comensals and encourage them to return, they really need to improve their game. That was not a pleasant culinary experience. Far from there.
