Classic top-notch restaurant. The views are great, saw dolphins swimming into the harbour during the meal. Atmosphere is relaxed. Seating, dinnerware, and interior all very well considered. The food was delicious. Had scallops with edamame and pork belly, it had just the right amount of everything. Same goes for the main of halibut with crab crust. The celeriac, crab emulsion, and halibut compliment one another and t... View all feedback.
What Kareen H doesn't like about Silver Darling:
I was disappointed with my meal as it was messy and lacked flavor. I started with mussels, which had plenty of mussels but lacked broth and flavor. The lemon sole goujons for my main course were okay, but the side salad was not good - a vegetable would have been a better choice. Overall, it was not the best dining experience. View all feedback.
The restaurant offers great food and a charming atmosphere, located on the dockside with a beautiful water view where we were able to watch dolphins playing. My husband enjoyed the mussels as a starter, while I indulged in the delicious roast duck. We both opted for the haddock with chunky chips, homemade mayo, and crushed peas, which was incredibly flavorful. The restaurant is situated next to Footdee (pronounced fitee), a picturesque old village of stone cottages. The staff was wonderful, and I would highly recommend this restaurant. However, it is advisable to make a reservation if you plan on visiting during the weekend. If you are staying in Aberdeen, a taxi ride to the restaurant costs about £10 as it is a 40-minute walk from the city center.
We had an amazing dining experience at this restaurant after our son's graduation from Aberdeen University. The food, service, and overall experience were exceptional. The view of the harbor was truly special and brought back fond childhood memories of living nearby.
This is obviously a popular restaurant and there are photos on the wall showing some celebrities who I assume dined here. Nice enough building and some tables have views, maybe oil supply vessels leaving port. The menu was reasonable for a specialty restaurant but didn’t quite meet expectations. Not a cheap place by any means but pricing was not ridiculous either. Pleasant staff on the whole.
Excellent service, food and drink as usual. My favourite place to eat in Aberdeen.
Great fresh seafood platter to share. Lobster espresso bisque was to die for. Desserts were divine. Amazing view and ambience too.
