This restaurant is an excellent choice for champagne afternoon tea. The afternoon tea I had was both delicious and abundant, with a wide variety of plates to suit every taste. The staff was helpful and friendly, and I will definitely be returning in the future. View all feedback.
What GaryHMFC doesn't like about Ix The Chester:
I had high hopes as it’s supposed to be a quite upmarket hotel. 1. Service wasn’t great it isn’t really the staff’s fault, they’re just young guys and need proper training from the manager. Took ages to get our drinks. Forgot to bring us water when we asked for a glass. Slow and felt a bit like we were forgotten about. 2. Food was quite good taste wise. I had the tandoori chicken and it was OK. Portion size was tiny... View all feedback.
I went to the bar for dinner and was quite disappointed. The staff were not very engaging and did not come back to check on our food or drinks throughout the evening, despite it being quiet. They awkwardly slammed down plates when the food came out. The food quality was inconsistent - the beef cheek was alright, the burger was good, but the mushroom macaroni tasted like a cheap packet mix. Overall, it was a shame.

We placed an order for our meals at 4:15 pm, but they didn't arrive until 5 pm, 45 minutes late and cold! When I called the restaurant at 4:40 pm to inquire about the delay, I was told that the driver was just leaving. This is the second time we have experienced these issues of late and cold food. We had hoped the first time was just a one-time occurrence, but it is clear that it is not. We requested a refund, but there has been zero communication about it.
I attended a meal for one of my sisters 30th birthday in the marquee here that my other sister had arranged I was very surprised and disappointed at the quality of my meal My steak was almost stone cold and not cooked as I had asked The portions were terrible for the price and my chimichuri sauce was very oily and lacking in the traditional flavour I tasted my partners and that was ok but still very cold The female waitress we had was nice but the male waiter was clueless and didn’t know what sauce was what so when he was trying to hand out the steaks to us he had no clue We did get a discount but to be honest I have eaten in restraints all over the world and I can’t for the life of me figure out why the food is the price it is or why people in Aberdeen keep settling for sub standard food at this price Just down the road in Glasgow or Edinburgh you get Michigan started food at half the price I think people in Aberdeen just think if something is expensive it means it is good but that’s not the case Terribly disappointed and I felt bad for my dad having to pay for it all when it was terrible

I had the tandoori chicken and it was OK. Portion size was tiny and I left still hungry. Starter was the haggis Bon Bon which was nice to be fair. 3. Prices were OTT. I was £60 for two people having starter and main course (excluding drinks) which didn’t feel like good value at all. Sorry but we won’t be rushing back.
