Description

Morrisseys Pub, once a standout Irish gem, now shows signs of neglect. The ambiance is uninspiring, with loud music and poor service. However, the bar staff were not all bad, and some found the pizza to be enjoyable. For those interested in Guinness, the modernized throwback pub offers a unique experience with a great beer garden. Despite some negative experiences, the staff at Morrisseys can be friendly and helpful. The pub is worth a visit for the atmosphere, memorabilia, and courtyard. Enjoy a pint, coffee, or cake while soaking in the historic charm of this establishment.

I recently visited Morrissey's pub for a few drinks on a Saturday afternoon while in Abbeyleix with friends. I was taken aback by the noisy atmosphere and the poor service from one of the bartenders. The bar had two large TVs showing racing and rugby, which was fine, but the loud dance music made it all blend into an unpleasant noise. I was shocked and upset by the rude and disrespectful attitude of a skinny young bartender who seemed uninterested in serving customers. When I asked for a pint of cider, he reluctantly poured it without a please or thank you, and threw my change across the counter. He treated other customers in a similar manner. While not all the staff were like this, the overall service was disappointing compared to my previous experiences at the pub. The staff used to be excellent, but now I am hesitant to return. The pizza I had was also mediocre at best.

We had a wonderful time at this delightful, old pub with its cozy ambiance and friendly staff. The place was bustling with activity when we arrived. We will certainly return again soon.

I hadn't been to this restaurant in years, but yesterday's visit was truly memorable. We came in after our victory in Kildare and received fantastic service. We even called ahead to order and the drinks were amazing. The ambiance is something you have to see for yourself. I would give this restaurant a perfect 10/10 rating.

I am 55 years old and I have frequented thousands of pubs in my life, I can say without hesitation that Morrisey's is the best pub that I have ever been in. The Guinness is lovely (which is usually a good indicator),the pub itself is immaculately clean, the restrooms are elegant and tastefully designed. the Lady behind the counter (Orla) is more than professional, Orla knew when to engage in conversation and when to leave people alone, she was friendly and welcoming and happy to explain the history of the pub. I 100% recommend popping into this beautiful pub
