View all feedback.

It is a half-wood wooden house dating from 1657, baroque style and unique medieval building that survives in that style of the city belongs to the town hall apple and now houses a restaurant that can visit its interior paying an entrance, and admire its white living room, located on the ground floor and decorated with stuccoes, the hall of the artisan teachers or the historic living room.
I can't fault Ratskeller... the service, atmosphere, location, decor, food etc was brilliant. The food is almost Michelin Star quality and reasonably priced, the wine was also quality and fairly priced. Defiently recommend the mushroom pasta to start and the cod for main - just wonderful. You must visit if you enjoy good food, wine and service. Thank you for a brilliant evening!
"Ratskeller" is now "Postwagon" as far as I am aware.Went here with some lovey German friends and had delightful saurbratten (?) with red cabbage and potato dumplings. German food done very nicely. Enjoyed the evening until a moaning wailing attention demanding "homeless" citizen came and performed his cabaret to the outdoor diners. He spoiled it of course.Nonetheless, we enjoyed the food so much that we went again during our stay. Lo and behold, the "homeless" dude was there again. It's clearly his patch. This time much more aggressive, he ended up assaulting man right by the restaurant dining area.Obviously, good food does not compensate for ugly scenes like this and I would not return for this reason.
This is one of those restaurants that you can feel good going to if only for the general look of the place. From the outside, it looks like an old street car and is situated right next to the Rathaus (City Hall). We sat inside at one of the cramped tables, and I noticed the word POST on the wall inside. I tried to ask our server in my limited German (she understood English but couldn't speak it) if this was once a Post Office. She said no and then gave me a long story - in German, most of which I understood - she said how it was once a book handler's place, and he would give books to the children of the school that used to be across the way. Sounds like a good chap! About the food - fantastic. We each ordered a large Paulaner Hefeweizen and dug in to our dishes. I ordered the Wiener schnitzel and my wife ordered a braised beef dish. Extremely good food in one of Aachen's best little restaurants!
