Big BBQ spot right off main Street in Lake Placid. Bar area is a good size and they have an impressive whiskey selection (big spenders can try some Pappy here). They even offer whisky flights which is a neat idea. Bartenders were friendly and the seasonal drinks offerings were great (The Mule was delicious). Menu has many of the BBQ staples including brisket and ribs. Prices are high but the location is hard to beat.... View all feedback.
What Scott Lawrence doesn't like about Smoke Signals:
This place completely fell off. The service was absolutely terrible. There’s a guaranteed wait of at least 2—4 hours and to find out they have a “new menu” which is only about 5 appetizers and 10 entrees which are all extremely over priced. They got rid of everything that was good. Used to love coming here and safe to say I will never be back. I strongly recommend going somewhere else. View all feedback.
Food portions were fair based on higher prices. Drink value was a bit off. Great food tastes and service. Would definitely return and order a bit differently. Kiely was a great server and covered many tables.
Great place. Brisket was very good. Quick and accommodating service. Make sure to make reservations in advance. Good selection of Bourbons.
This Fall, we held our wedding reception at Smoke Signals in the upstairs Music Hall and Lake View Room. We cannot stress enough the immense praise we received (and are still receiving) from quite literally every guest in attendance on our wedding food. We love Smoke Signals — we've been coming here for 6 years during our annual backpacking trip to the Adirondack Mountains. It was natural that we held our wedding in the area, and wanted Smoke Signals to continue being a part of our lives. Our Sm … – show
First off our server was VERY sweet quick and attentive!!! Which is why I give this place 3 stars. But The restaurant itself does not accommodate parties larger than 8. Otherwise you are forced to sit at separate tables regardless of whether they are next to each other or not. We were put upstairs in a large space with plenty of room to put our two tables together yet the manager insisted it’s against house rules. He was very rude and not accommodating whatsoever. Doesn’t sound like they need … – show
Decision to abandon the old menu and many bbq staples is nothing short of tragic. Over the last few years we have enjoyed bringing friends and family to Lake Placid through each of the seasons, with Smoke Signals always a standout component of the trip. Those days are sadly over. I can only hope they reverse course while there’s still time. No longer a stop for legendary pulled pork—but if you want to wait a couple hours for a stuffed pear give it a try.
