It is located along a road off the main highway, making it difficult to find without navigation. The exterior looks like a regular house, but there are signs and banners that make it distinguishable up close. The restaurant has both table and counter seating, and despite my early arrival, there were already two other customers leisurely enjoying their tea. Although the specialty is curry, locals mainly use it as a coffee shop. I ordered the Shrimp Fry Curry (1000 yen), which arrived in less than 10 minutes. The shrimp fry came on a separate plate with four thin shrimp tails and a salad. The curry sauce was made with minced meat and had been stewed for two days, resulting in a rich and spicy, yet elegant flavor. The master mentioned that in addition to vegetables, several fruits were also simmered in the curry, adding depth to the taste. Ootaya has been in business for 16 years in this area, with the master having previously worked in a dining establishment in Fukuyama. If you love curry, be sure to try this authentic and flavorful spicy curry!
