I went in June. It's the season for blue crabs. If you go before 10 o'clock, you should be able to choose and buy them. I went in June. It's the season for blue crabs. If you go before 10 o'clock, you should be able to choose and buy them. There are many females with rich roe for sale, but actually, the sweet and delicious meat of the males in summer is the best. Blue crabs are also available at supermarkets in Kumamoto city, and the prices are not that different, but the size and freshness are incomparable. When you get back home, boil them in water. Boiling them in hot water will make the legs come off and the flavor escape. If you don't go in the morning during other seasons, there won't be much fish left. They also have popular octopus steaks. I always buy cut flowers because they are cheap.
Whenever I go to Amakusa, I always make sure to stop by this restaurant. The restroom is clean and the fresh seafood, vegetables, and fruits, especially citrus fruits, are always a must-buy for me. They also have souvenirs, bento boxes, and soft serve ice cream available. This time, I tried their food for the first time and was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was. The sashimi was fresh, and now I feel like trying their seafood bowl next time.
This restaurant review is split into three buildings for seafood, fresh flowers, and produce, as well as bento boxes and other local products. There are plenty of fresh specialties from Amakusa available, such as live prawns, local fish, and blue crabs at cheaper prices than supermarkets. One popular item is the taco steak, which sells out quickly in the early mornings. Seasonal items like oysters, spiny turban shells, and pike conger eels are also available. While I have not yet purchased anything from the local products and produce area, they do sell Yunoshima daikon radishes, which were once featured on TV as being as sweet as pears. Another recommended item is bakudan (hard-boiled eggs wrapped in deep-fried sweet potato), a local specialty that tends to sell out quickly. Additionally, you can find fresh seasonal fruits, vegetables, and bento boxes. This spot is great for both tourists and locals looking for fresh ingredients. They will provide ice when purchasing seafood, but bringing a large cooler box is recommended if you tend to buy a lot.
