Since he runs the restaurant by himself, if you try to talk to him while he's busy or when it's crowded, he may brush you off. I happened to catch him at a good time and he didn't say anything to me, but I saw him say a few things to other customers. The atmosphere was a bit tense, but the katsudon and croquettes were delicious. When it came time to pay, he simply said, "Sorry for the bad vibes." He was friendly and chatted easily with customers he got along with, so I think he's actually a good person at heart.

Personally, I was initially scolded upon entering, but by the time I left, the owner was smiling and engaging in enjoyable conversation with me. If you cannot connect with them by the end, it is simply a reflection of your own communication abilities. It's interesting to see how even a flashy young man may leave the restaurant with a polite demeanor. The key is to be as polite as you would be at a Jiro ramen shop.
