I stumbled upon this soba restaurant about 10 years ago and fell in love with it. I arrived around 11 am on a Sunday in April and had to wait about 10 minutes as it was already packed. I ordered the "Yoshibu" zaru soba, tempura assortment, grated yam rice, side dish, and soba tofu set. Despite the crowd, the food came out quickly. The soba was made from 100% buckwheat flour and had a strong buckwheat flavor. The tempura assortment included spring chrysanthemum, rapeseed blossoms, pumpkin, shiitake mushrooms, two types of enoki mushrooms, and two shrimp, offering a generous portion. I especially enjoyed the enoki mushroom tempura from the "Yoshibu" set. The grated yam rice, side dish, and soba tofu were all delicious. Be aware that they only serve soba until they run out, so plan accordingly.

The soba noodles are delicious, no doubt about it! However, overall, it falls just slightly short of being our favorite in Bungo Takada. The portion size and quality of the soba noodles are clearly better here... The composition of the soba noodles and other dishes is clearly superior in Bungo Takada... The main disappointment is the broth, as the strong taste highlights a country-style sweetness that may not be to everyone's liking. The tempura is subjective, so if you truly want to enjoy it here, eating it with salt may be the best option. It would be nice if there were other menu items like dashimaki tamago, grilled seaweed, and grilled fish cake that would go well with alcohol. It's a popular restaurant, so make sure to come with plenty of time. They also offer take-out for soba noodles, and the service with complimentary broth is very attentive.
