It was a... read more When I searched for a restaurant on Google Maps, I was surprised to see a rating of 4.9 in such a rural area. Nonetheless, I decided to give it a try. It was a bit difficult to find, as I took a wrong turn, but there was a sign up high. I ordered a large tempura soba and a large mountain vegetable soba. They added a small piece of tempura to the mountain vegetable soba because there was some left. As I was enjoying the soba, they brought out pickled daikon and simmered kabocha squash. After finishing my meal and taking a breath, they unexpectedly served me candied winter melon, coffee, and some sweets as a complimentary service. The coffee alone costs 350 yen though, haha. The soba was delicious without a doubt! The simmered dish and coffee were also excellent. The soba and atmosphere alone deserve a five-star rating, but with the kindness of the aunty and the service, I would give them seven stars! I definitely want to go back again.

For 700 yen, I had a delicious mountain vegetable soba along with various side dishes including sweets, tempura, simmered dish, pickled cherry blossoms, and even a complimentary ohagi for the Equinox Day. The soba's taste and portion were perfect, and we were even served coffee after the meal. With a one-hour wait for the bus to Higashidaka, I had a pleasant conversation with the auntie and her husband. It took me three hours to get there, but this local diner is a memorable place that I would like to revisit.
