I have been visiting this restaurant during the Hinamatsuri event for the past few years after reading about it in a magazine. Their specialty chestnut manju is filled with anko right before serving, so it takes a little time, but the crispy texture of the manju and the perfect sweetness of the anko inside is delightful. When taken home, the texture of the manju changes to a more crunchy one after 2-3 hours, but the taste remains the same. Personally, I recommend eating it right away rather than taking it home. It is located near the Tsukubarinrin Road Mabikiba Rest Area, so it could be a great option for a snack on the go.
This restaurant always has regular customers whenever you visit. With only two tables, it is a cozy place to dine.
I visited during the Hinamatsuri period and enjoyed the lively atmosphere with the Oyaji band playing drums like The Beatles, electric guitar, and flute. The manju were affordable so I bought them as souvenirs for my family on the way home. Next time, I would like to try eating manju and kusa mochi.
