This soba restaurant is located in a run-down shopping mall near Yanasegawa Station, but it offers two types of super-sized menu options - "Tokumori Takao-san" and "Gekimori Fuji-san". When I asked the staff about the portion sizes in grams, I was only told that Takao-san is 2.5 servings and Fuji-san is 3.5 servings, so I decided to challenge myself and went with the Fuji-san option. Located in the Pair Mall just minutes from Yanasegawa Station, this soba restaurant is a gem. As soon as you enter, you are greeted with a delicious cup of soba tea. I opted for the kakiage-don set for my meal, and it did not disappoint. The donburi sauce was tasty, and the kakiage, filled with shrimp, was satisfying. If the sauce had soaked into the kakiage more, it would have been even better. The soba had a nice aroma and was on the thicker side. As I continued to eat, I noticed a slight coarse texture, but it was still delicious. The dipping sauce could have been richer for a little extra flavor. Considering the price and quality, I found it to be quite good. While the shopping street may feel quiet, Kunkaze and other small shops are working hard to stay in business. I encourage them to keep up the traditional shopping street charm.

Even just carrying the sieve filled with soba felt incredibly heavy, exceeding a kilogram. The soba noodles were cooked slightly chewy, with a good texture and flavor. The dipping sauce had a strong flavor, and personally, I found it just right when I added a bit of soba water to it. With the help of grated daikon radish and tempura flakes as condiments, I was able to finish the meal.
The texture of the soba noodles is amazing and very pleasant to eat. The tempura is also freshly fried and crispy. The menu is extensive, and you can enjoy a casual dining atmosphere. In the past, the katsu toji stew we had at a party was surprisingly tasty. We have become regulars recently. It's a restaurant we can't wait to visit again soon.
