Located in the Teramachi shopping arcade in Kyoto, this restaurant offers Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki prepared right before your eyes on the grill. Vegan options are available upon request, though the menu is only in English which may be a downside for some diners. The price for dinner, including a drink, came out to about 2100 yen per person, which is not cheap but we were satisfied with our meal. It was a fun experience to watch the skilled chefs cook and even more enjoyable to eat.

The cook uses various utensils for cooking meat and vegan food, so good, BUT.... the teppan is never thoroughly cleaned. I was the first customer of the day (4 pm) so I was fine, but the people who came to experience vegan food after the meat was made on it. If you are vegetarian for religious reasons or have allergies, avoid a Teppanyaki Square. Japanese people do not yet understand this concept well enough. How do we know if there is no cross-contamination? We know here because we see it, other places we don't know and ignorance is bliss.
