Donuts Recipe
Step 1: Get all the ingredients ready - flour, sugar, yeast, salt, milk, butter, and eggs. Mix the flour and sugar together, after sifting of course, to make it smooth. Oh, the things I do for that girl.
Step 2: Warm up the milk and butter until the butter melts. Don't let it get too hot, or you'll be in trouble. Mix the yeast with warm water and a bit of sugar until it's foamy.
Step 3: Combine the yeast mixture with the flour and sugar, along with the milk and butter. Slowly add in the eggs while stirring. Try not to make too much of a mess like she used to.
Step 4: Knead the dough until it's smooth and elastic. Let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size. Roll it out, cut out the donut shapes, and let them rise again. That's a lot of waiting around, just like babysitting her as a kid.
Step 5: Heat up the oil and fry the donuts on each side until golden brown. Be careful not to burn them, or you'll never hear the end of it. Let them cool on a wire rack while you mix up a simple glaze of powdered sugar and milk.
Step 6: Dip the cooled donuts in the glaze and let them set. Enjoy these darn donuts warm with a cup of coffee, just like she used to demand when she was a little troublemaker. Ah, the memories.
