Twas the night of Christmas and I was looking for a place that was open and they were open. The waiting staff and bartender were all pleasantly happy despite the work on Christmas. I had Calamari and Irish potatoes for and appetizer and followed him with a rib-eye steak. Everything was made perfect and was delicious. I definitely left the place full, happy and satisfied. This restaurant has a dress code??? I came here on a Saturday night to catch a Bruins game and was turned away at the door because I was in sweatpants. The dress code was only posted on a small 8.5x11 piece of paper in tiny font, and it wasn't listed on their website or Facebook page. My biggest issue, however, was the “dress code” enforced after 7 PM. This is a sports bar, not a high-end nightclub in Boston. The owner really needs to reconsider what kind of establishment he runs. We were there to watch the Bruins game on Saturday night, and when my daughter and her boyfriend arrived at 7:30 PM, they were turned away because he was wearing jogger sweatpants. Ironically, the waitresses were in leggings and other patrons were in shorts and sweatpants, but it didn’t matter since they had arrived before 7 PM. Really?! When I spoke to the manager, I expressed my understanding of dress codes for events with cover charges, but this was just a Bruins game, and everyone in the bar was dressed accordingly. I asked if she could make an exception, and she replied, “No, I’m sorry, it’s not my rule, I can’t do anything about it.” In my opinion, she was an ineffective manager, merely enforcing unreasonable rules in a Worcester sports bar. She was willing to lose a tab that could have easily amounted to $200-300 with 7-8 people drinking that night—over a 30-minute time window. We won’t be returning.
