Feedback
The café has garnered attention for its impressive range of health-conscious dishes, including numerous vegan options, but opinions on quality and value are mixed. While some diners appreciate the extensive menu and the pleasant ambiance, others lament the elevated prices and inconsistent food quality. Signature items like the naked Byron garlic aioli and the chocolate cake receive praise, yet concerns linger about underwhelming sweet potato fries and the removal of vegan dessert options. Despite its growing popularity, patrons note lengthy wait times and a shift away from its original charm, suggesting there's potential for improvement.
I usually go to Kunara more for a study of psychology rather than the food, to be completely honest. Putting stereotypes to one side, there are few things more intriguing than to watch people churn through a high priced cafe in the middle of a week day (ie work day) in semi-hippy/alternative gear. But I digress. Kunara cafe has always been high priced, with more misses than hits, and mixed staff attitudes, ranging from friendly to disinterested, snarly, rude or anything inbetween. Coffees are small. Their mug is only cup-sized, and more often than not it is warm rather than hot. On my last visit I ordered a fruit juice with my coffee. I waited and waited and waited and waited. When it was time to leave I asked a waitress when I might be receiving my fruit juice. She looked surprised and then ran off to ask. She came back to me and told me I should have collected it from the fridge myself... Oh, all good, I guess, but shame the cashier didn't inform me. When I go to the fridge the juice combo I ordered wasn't even there. It was all too hard to go through another explanatory session with the staff so I just grabbed another and left.
Called in for the first time in a while and such a wonderful surprise. Love all the products and all the surprises offered for a healthy lifestyle and to help create better health.Decided to stop and pick up something to take home for lunch. So much to choose from and on the day I was there the place was full and everyone enjoying their lunch. I chose a frittata and as busy as the staff were they did their very best to keep everyone happy and off I went quite quickly with my boxed lunch. Which was so tasty. I'm going again today, taking my daughter who is visiting to have the wonderful Kunara experience. And to try a little treat from the cafe. Huge thank you to all the staff and whoever makes the food, it's made with so much love.
Their food is delicious if your gf, vegetarian or dairy free... don't take your partner if he/she is a real meat eater... they won't appreciate it. When busy...which is often- food and coffee takes forever!!!
Been here twice now, love their wide range of desserts which they have a list for you to cross check ingredients and they labelled out all vegan options. No extra charge for getting bonsoy/almond milk for coffee. Big fan of their chocolate cake! Price is acceptable.
Overpriced, especially for average to small portion sizes. They aren 't as vegan friendly as they used to be a few years ago, not as many vegan options. They seem to focus more on gluten free and paleo. Updated: 26 10 17 Above review still applies. although they have a new menu with several new vegan options, the prices are really steep and I was disappointed with the food. A little tip: Don 't get the sweet potato fries, they are oven baked ie sloppy undercooked sweet potato pieces with coconut yoghurt : nothing like chips at all. That is how they make them though apparently. Updated from previous review on 2017-01-02
