Nestled in Dartmoor, this restaurant offers a menu that reflects the essence of Nouvelle Cuisine, prominently featuring local produce like lamb and fish, enhanced by precise culinary techniques. However, some visitors experienced service inconsistencies and hygiene concerns that detracted from their experience. My companions and I visited the restaurant after a delightful walk to Wistman's Woods on a Saturday. The staff were friendly and efficient, and despite the busy atmosphere and our lack of reservation, we were seated in the restaurant. The menu offered a variety of options, all of which were delicious. Paired with the locally brewed Ale, our lunch was truly memorable. We returned in the afternoon after another long walk to enjoy their delectable scones and tea, and even purchased a souvenir pack of their Ales. On Sunday, we returned again and though the Sunday roasts were fully booked, we were able to find a seat and enjoyed a light lunch menu featuring a homemade sausage roll, quiche, and a mouthwatering soup. Kudos to the chef for their skills in the kitchen!
The dinner menu is limited at this restaurant, offering a glimpse into the last stronghold of Nouvelle Cuisine. The cooked breakfast was of excellent quality, but I have never been served such small portions before - half a piece of black pudding, a hogs pudding the size of a thumbnail, one egg, one rasher of bacon, one mushroom, and a chipolata. It might be a good idea to bring sandwiches as well.
My daughter and I enjoyed a cream tea at this restaurant for lunch. The scone was large, slightly salty, and served with plenty of Devon clotted cream and jam. We also indulged in an extra cake, with mine being a delicious home made flapjack filled with raisins and drenched in honey. The service was excellent and there was a nice outdoor eating area.

Popped into the Tors restaurant after a drive through Dartmoor for an afternoon tea. Upon arrival, we noticed that the majority of people were all of a much higher class, and we felt looked down upon. We were greeted and sent to a table outside, not even offered a seat inside, despite there being plenty of seating available. Whilst waiting for our order, we were given the food of another table, and the man sitting across from us had not had his order taken after almost 30 minutes of waiting. When delivered, the food was okay, however not a place I would recommend to family and friends. Was overpriced for what we received. Was a good stop for a toilet break after being in the car for so long, however would absolutely not return, due to this disappointing visit.
