The Queen's Head in Southend Bradfield offers a mixed dining experience with some patrons praising the friendly staff and delicious food, while others have complained about inconsistencies and changes in the menu. While some highlights include a great breakfast selection, a revamped vegetarian menu, and well-executed dishes like roast lamb and monkfish, others have noted issues with soggy chips, lack of runny yolks in poached eggs, and a shift towards more fast food-like options. Despite mixed reviews, the pub's atmosphere and service seem to be consistently praised, making it a good spot for either a quick drink or a full meal.
What ChunkyW likes about Queen's Head:
First visit after many years traveling to and from Bradfield College. The pub has been refurbished during lockdown this includes a new chef who started a week ago. Food is freshly prepared uses local suppliers wherever possible. Will happily return and wish Dieter, the new owner, every success in the interim. View all feedback.
What jmcdonald9 doesn't like about Queen's Head:
Visited for breakfast.. 5 people. Nice interior and newly refurbished. Service was ok. Food was good except 3 of us had dishes with poached eggs, and none had runny yolks. If the breakfast menu has lots of poached egg dishes, the chef needs to learn to poach an egg properly. View all feedback.
Get the veggieburger. tofu bowl is beautiful, but very sweet and chili.
