What canadasafety dislikes about Stonefire:
I'm really tall so the chairs don't fit. Asked for a booth but was told they were for larger parties. We asked for reservation at 6:30 and was told very busy so 6:15pm. Got there and it was deserted. Nobody, except 2 booths with two people? Then another 2 booths given to 2 person parties? Ordered Bruschetta and 25 minutes later it arrived. The food wasn't bad but the service brought the whole experience down. Took a while to get our order in and once the food was served our waiter disappeared. Water was not refilled even after asking another waiter they went looking for ours and never filled our glasses. Similar issue when we asked for the bill. The brocolli cheese soup of the day was very good. Caesar starter was ok but not great. The garden salad was very flavorful. There were different pizzas ordered The Greco pizza had an interesting bruschetta topping was very good. The pepperoni pizza sauce was surprisingly spicy and was not indicated on the menu. The make your own pizza with anchovies was too salty and way too many anchovies.The Mediteranean entree salad was large but lacked in dressing seemed to be olive oil with a pinch of salt.Perhaps an off night, wasn't too busy for a Saturday night. It's in the neighborhood so may try it again.
We were a group of seven. I started with gazpacho horrible taste. Two of us ordered the veal marsala, Both myself and family member found the veal marsala totally tasteless and had to return the dish. Mine was replaced by salmon (no argument on restaurant side) but the salmon was also tasteless but was not returned. Other guests all complained about how bad the food wss.
A lovely restaurant with excellent food and service. We ordered agnolotti with rose sauce, side plate of grilled vegetables and chicken parmesan with no cheese, which was done as requested. The chicken came with pasta and white sauce which my BF didn't eat so we got a nice takeout container and bag. I was able to create my own mock- tail and it was made just right! Everything was really good. The staff even took pictures of us as we were Celebrating our 6th anniversary. Thanks again, to Zara, our waitress, and the crew.We will be back!!
You should definitely try the grilled calamari salad at this family-style Italian restaurant.
