Excellent olde worlde pub. Price per person: £1–10 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Contrary to the website, which states food is served from 2pm on Fridays, it is actually 3pm-8pm (ish). The emphasis is on the ‘ish’; if you need exact times for your meal you probably shouldn’t be in Cornwall. Once the food service started I had battered cod, chips and peas for £14. The food was well cooked, the batter was light, chips were crisp and the piece of fish was twice the size of what you get at a nearby chip shop. The owners were friendly, the pub and the locals have character and the facilities (camp site, shop, beer garden) all combine to make this a great place to visit. With original low beams in the pub you can expect to bang your head at least once if you are taller than 5’8”!
Visited the pub whilst staying at the attached campsite. Great landlords, really good vibe, locals were fantastic craic and really welcoming. Good prices and good beer, perfect! Didn't eat there but had a very enjoyable afternoon spent in the garden on a hot day with some like minded individuals
