Aztec's Mine - Toronto
Aztec's Mine
Menu
The restaurant from Toronto offers 102 different dishes and drinks on the menu for an average price of CA$18.
Located just outside High Park, this restaurant offers excellent food but faces accessibility issues. Despite rude staff and unwelcoming rules, the tasty dishes such as shrimp tacos and tilapia fish tacos impress. The family-run establishment also caters to different dietary restrictions. The homemade flan is a standout dessert. While some service hiccups and lack of free tortilla chips may deter some customers, the overall experience is enjoyable. With a charming patio and delicious offerings like the enchilada mole and High Park Lager, this spot is worth a visit for a satisfying meal.

Was Mark S at Aztec's Mine a mag?
I don't understand why this restaurant only has a rating of 2.9. Every reviewer has raved about it with nothing but positive comments. And I completely agree with them! I tried the taco variety plate and it was fantastic, much better than The Mad Mexican. The service was fast and friendly, the food was authentic Mexican, and the prices were reasonable. What Nancy Van Kessel dislikes about Aztec's Mine:
Had my first (probably last) visit to this restaurant on May 13/23. The food was excellent (I had the shrimp tacos, very yummy), and the staff were attentive. However, this restaurant is completely non-handicap accessible. I had to ask the staff to help me up the steps with my rollator, from street level into the restaurant. There is no washroom on the ground level, and I didn't dare trying to access the washroom in... View all feedback.
I frequently visit this restaurant because it is very close to my home and overlooks High Park. I really enjoy the food there! I have been to Aztec multiple times and have tried a variety of dishes, all of which have been excellent. One of my favorites is the Flautas, which are filled with beef and served in a delicious pastry. Their salads are also amazing. I have brought friends who are more knowledgeable about Hispanic cuisine than me, and they have all enjoyed Aztec. However, those who only think of Taco Bell as authentic southern food were less impressed.
Across the high park road, a tiny road side joint surprises you with a large open space at the back once you enter.<br/ Visited on a Sunday evening for dinner, the place has good offers on beer.<br/ I tried the High Park Lager and ordered the Philly Melt (Beef Sandwich).<br/ Everything was top notch. The sandwich just melts in your mouth and the accompanying kale salad and fries on the side were done beautifully too.<br/

The best nachos I've had in a long time. The menu clearly marks items with gluten.
