Was Gregory Kerluke at Single Origin a mag?
I was eagerly anticipating the opening of this restaurant. I often visit the BGC area and have tried the nearby breakfast places, but was getting tired of the typical offerings. When Single Origin finally opened, I knew I had to try their food and coffee. I was impressed by the portion size of their beef short rib, which was cooked perfectly and incredibly tender and juicy. Their chicken and waffles, a popular dish,... View all feedback.
What Elinor Lockman dislikes about Single Origin:
The coffee at this place is very good and that's it. I expected from the food but it turned out ordinary in taste. I was disappointed in their crab cakes which was too salty, the pasta in crab fat was good though. Service should be improved - pay attention to guests, respect guests when sitting them in shared tables. View all feedback.
But I guess that's what the restaurant is for. Chilling and relaxing. There's breakfast the whole day. And brunch and yes, a hearty full meal. The meal was actually not bad considering the food around the area. The service is good and much better than the starchy Dean and Deluca beside. It's great that the place was open even on Good Friday.
I was introduced to this coffeehouse by a friend who is a huge fan of it. I had only passed by it before, but when we finally went inside, I immediately thought "this place is right up my alley!" I adored the ambiance and decor. The quality of the drinks was a solid 9/10. I definitely plan to return if I have the chance, and I will order the same caffeine-free tea again. The staff were all quite busy, even though there were only two groups of customers - my friend and I, and another table of noisy and boisterous women. Some of the staff kept glancing at me, which made me a bit uncomfortable while we were enjoying our drinks. The wifi was reliable and didn't cut out like at most dining spots in the Philippines.
If you want to have brunch then this is the place. Love their coffee and the breakfast platters are so filling and so good. Their bacons are almost perfect, eggs are fluffy and pancakes are to die for. Will come back again with the family this time.
Their chicken and waffles, a popular dish, also did not disappoint with its crispy and juicy chicken and golden waffles. Their creme brulee cappuccino and hot chocolate were also exceptional. Keep up the good work! Breakfast is indeed the most important meal of the day.
This place is a 5 minute walk from my office and has become my go to location when I want a good cup of coffee. Best cup in BGC, and easily one of the best in the entire metro. The place is your classic hipster coffee shop, with cool music playing (think Nina Simone, Belle and Sebastian, etc.), quirky mis-matched chairs, lots of wood and brick, high ceilings, black metal work, good wifi, etc.Food is also nice (a tad expensive though for what you get) -- with my fave being their homemade corned beef and anything waffle. Service is really good -- though it might be because I'm here every week (I remember when their service wasn't as spot on as it is for me now, so mileage may vary). Bottom line it's got great coffee and nice food, in a very relaxing and comfortable setting. Highly recommend.
