I really do like nothing more than a proper local pub where people are friendly towards those of us who are just popping in as we 're passing and the Bell Inn was a cracking find for dinner and a few beers. I went in on a Saturday lunchtime at 12.30 and there was nobody else there. The kitchen was closed because of apparent illness and there wasn 't even a sandwich to be had (no bread). I had to hang on as two others were meeting me prior to a meeting in the adjacent village hall.
