The Tickell Arms is a charming pub restaurant that is part of the Cambscuisine family. Housed in a beautiful Grade 2 listed building, it features a lovely conservatory that overlooks a picturesque pond. The menu showcases Modern British European cuisine, with an emphasis on using locally sourced, fresh, and seasonal ingredients. Every two months, the menu changes to highlight a specific cut of meat, fish, fowl, or game. Additionally, The Tickell is a traditional country pub with cozy wood burning stoves, an excellent selection of real ales, and a carefully curated wine list. Once a former coaching inn, The Tickell Arms was transformed into a country pub restaurant in the 1960s by Kim Tickell. Despite losing some of its appeal after Kim Tickell's passing in 1991, the building underwent a major refurbishment to restore it to its former glory.
At the Tickell, a family-run pub steeped in history, guests are met with a mixed experience. While the atmosphere blends contemporary warmth with historical charm, the food has garnered varying opinions. Diners appreciate the quality service and appealing decor but note a shift from a once-vibrant menu to more conventional gastro pub offerings. Many found the prices steep for the quality and variety, with limited vegetarian options. Despite these concerns, a handful of patrons enjoyed their meals and the pleasant ambiance, suggesting that while not all aspects meet expectations, the Tickell remains a welcoming spot for a cozy outing.
