I haven't been in the Signal Mountain for decades. So everything's new to me. My first impression of El Metate is good. They sat immediately and a waitress was almost immediately at my table. I ordered a shredded chicken taco salad from the lunch menu. It was literally on my table in less than 2 minutes! The food was good and tomatoes were ripe. Table and utensils were immaculate. I lived in Houston for almost 15yrs.This place is nothing to write home about.El Metate will do in a pinch if you're on the mountain and don't want to go into town.
