One of the best meals I've had start to finish at a restaurant in a long time. There will probably be a 45 min to hour wait but it is worth it. The clam chowder had plenty of fish in every bite. The large bowl is a value at $12. The salmon sandwich was really good and their homemade Berry Crisp dessert was the perfect way to end the meal. My server Savannah took excellent care of me. Salmon was over cooked for all 3 of us. Red snapper (included with captains platter) was better. Dinners come with choice of 4 sides but they are all starches (rice, potato, corn, baked beans). No real vegetables. Very expensive for what you get. Seems they cater to tourists and don’t depend on repeat customers. Service was good. View all feedback.
The food was delicious, with slightly larger portions compared to other restaurants in Seward. The warm cornbread made for a great appetizer, and the berry cobbler à la mode was absolutely fantastic!
Cute rustic restaurant with good drinks, great food and friendly service. We had the salmon chunks for an appetizer and it was so good. We split the captains platter and a cup of salmon chowder. The chowder was the best I’ve ever had. Topped it all off with a homemade blueberry cobbler (crisp). Would definitely come back!
We really enjoyed a great meal after coming down from Exit Glacier. This little restaurant is located right before turning onto the main highway back to Seward. I was saving my seafood dish for the following night. I ordered their hand patted cheeseburger with two half pound patties, and it was delicious. My wife ordered a Halibut broil, and she really enjoyed it as well. We had the Halibut chunks appetizer as well as the seafood chowder. It's all very tasty! I would say that for $21, the halibut chunks could be a little more voluminous. There were 5 chunks. We would definitely go back.Hope this review helped you. Enjoy Alaska!
Summary: outstanding salmon bake dish lives up to its namesake, generally good value and quality food. Visit: 7/5/22 7:30 pm Pros: Salmon bake dish is delicious with a lovely spice rub and grill marks. A little overcooked and dry for my liking butI think that's typical here. Chocolate surprise (chocolate cake) dessert was good. Captain's Platter was good value withsalmon, battered shrimp, and battered halibut (pictured). Seafood chowder was good. Corn side had an interesting flavor withhints of pepper. Cornbread was good. Garlic butter rice side was good, al dente rice. Service was decent and our party of5 waited 20 min or so despite them being busy. Cons: Coleslaw was a little too yogurt y. Overall: Food 4/5 some of thebest salmon in Seward and other dishes are pretty good though nothing mind blowing. Service 3.5/5 average to above averagefriendliness and wait times Value 3.5/5 probably one of the better value places in Seward, but it still is Seward.
On a dreary, rainy day (just look at the puddles in the parking lot), we decided to head back to the Windsong Lodge after spending most of the day on a boat tour. With limited dining options nearby, our choices were either the on-site restaurant or a half-mile walk to The Salmon Bake. Ultimately, we were glad we chose the lodge’s restaurant, as it turned out to be a better option. We were seated promptly since we arrived early, likely because others were discouraged by the rain. Our server was very friendly and efficient. They had some great local draft beer on tap. I enjoyed a delicious Sockeye salmon sandwich, and the homemade berry cobbler with ice cream was excellent. The atmosphere is a quirky mix of lodge charm and kitsch, which suits the area perfectly. Overall, the food was definitely worth a visit, so be sure to check it out.
