Having lived in Australia, I've always had low expectations for fish chips in North America. However, this place surprised me with its delicious clam chowder. While the bread that came with the clam chowder wasn't anything special, the chowder itself was so thick and creamy that I would definitely want to have it again when I'm in Seattle. The restaurant offers convenient parking and a good-sized menu. We ordered clams, a hamburger, and fish and chips. Unfortunately, the meal was quite average and didn’t stand out in any particular way.
I usually order just a few items from the menu, but they're fantastic choices that keep me returning! The outdoor seating area by the water is a big draw for me. I always get a cup...

Ivar 's Fish Bar is a fast casual, walkup spot to get (mostly? fish and chips whereas Ivar 's Salmon House (next door is a proper sit-down restaurant. I biked here and ordered the salmon (4 pieces chips $13,69 to go. The people working there are nice, and you can get extra sauce and vinegar to go. The portion and the fish itself were quite good. The fries were unexpectedly good (they don 't look like much to write home about , and everything tasted great with tartar sauce. Four stars because I think the fish could be a little more moist/juicy, but I 'm mostly splitting hairs here. I 'd happily return to try their cod fish and chips and would definitely order the salmon and chips again.
