This visit was rather ordinary. We had a Flammkuchen as a starter. This is one of our favorite dishes, but the preparation was and taste that gives the simple dish its zest was missing. For our main courses we each had a stuffed baked potatoes. The key to this dish is the selection of the correct potato. We have wanted to eat at Bernstein since it opened, but it was always full when we tried. Reputation said it was a very trendy place with great fries. That was not a ringing endorsement to us. We finally found a seat for lunch. I tried a pasta dish and my wife a regional specialty. The waitress was unable to answer basic questions about the entrees and then forgot the soup. While we waited, we took in the atmosphere. We saw the typical stark solid colors and rectangular lines of this type bistro. Seating is crowded and not especially comfortable. Then the food came and erased the negatives. Prices were not low, but reasonable, given the reputation, uninspired decor and poor service.
Full service and great food. Just try it you'll like it. I had the curry the wife had the Kartoffel Puffer und bieder wären lecker.
The Bernstein (engl. Amber) is a Café/Restaurant in the heart of Schweinfurt, between the Town Hall and the Art Museum (Georg Schäfer Museum).The food is very good, though it seems to me a tad expensive for the size of the portion you receive. The staff is super friendly, the atmosphere friendly.Sometimes their music is a bit off, but that's really not a reason not to go ;)Customers are a wide range, couples, families, business parties... a group of friends and I go there almost every weekend for our catchig up for several hours :)Totoally Recommended!
Went for supper with friends. Very clean, good selection of wines. Food varied with a range of specials. All palettes catered for. Very reasonably priced.
Food and prices of medium level. Nothing special, but in line with the bill that you pay for. The environment is good.
