Despite a mix of reviews, Beola restaurant offers a simple menu with good food quality but some inconsistencies. Some found dishes delicious, like the mussels and lamb shank, while others were disappointed by overcooked scallops and tough chicken. Portion sizes were mixed, but the friendly service was noted. Additionally, the lack of availability of some menu items and the small menu selection were drawbacks. Overall, Beola provides decent food in a friendly atmosphere, but it may not be the most memorable dining experience for everyone.
This was likely the best meal we had during our time in Ireland. The service was excellent, and the food was delicious. I highly recommend it if you're looking for something a notch above the typical goujons and curry!
I had high hopes for this restaurant after reading some positive reviews, but my visit fell short of expectations. When we arrived, the door was closed, which set a less-than-ideal tone. My partner really liked the chowder, and we both tried the mussels as an appetizer. While the portion was on the smaller side, they were quite flavorful. My salmon main course was good, but the sauce lacked seasoning, and the scallops were overcooked. My partner's fish and chips were acceptable. However, it appeared that several items on the menu were already sold out by the time other guests arrived. To top it off, the staff could have been more attentive to the diners.
I cannot recommend this restaurant unless you like having low-quality gravy drizzled over an overcooked frozen steak, served with bland potatoes and salad. It was the worst meal I've ever had in my country.
Even midweek, this restaurant was busy which is indicative of its popularity. Good range of dishes using fresh, local ingredients. We had the scallop starter the prawn cocktail, although this had too much Marie Rose dressing and was immediately taken off our bill. The...lamb shank dish was excellent. If we'd been in Roundstone longer, we would have returned.
