Choy's - Randwick
Menu
The restaurant from Randwick offers 153 different courses and drinks on the menu for an average price of A$16.
Despite some mixed reviews, Choy's restaurant seems to have both loyal fans and unhappy customers. The atmosphere is described as dimly lit, authentic, and welcoming. Some customers praise the food as always being great and consistent, with particular mentions of dishes like the honey chicken and sizzling steak. The owner is mentioned as being friendly and accommodating, providing free desserts and creating a pleasant dining experience. However, there are also negative experiences, such as finding foreign objects in the food and encountering harsh reactions from the owner. Overall, Choy's seems to have a polarizing reputation, with some customers enjoying the food and atmosphere while others have had unpleasant encounters.

Was Isai Kuhlman at Choy's a mag?
This restaurant has been a family favourite since it opened in 1976. I visited Sydney yesterday and had dinner at Choys. The food is always good, the service is always good and well worth a visit if you are in the area. The prices are in the medium/low for Chinese food. I would recommend for singles to large families. What Jade Monahan dislikes about Choy's:
Choy's has been in Randwick for a long time. In the old days, it provided very good value Chinese food among the best in Sydney. The restaurant is not large but good enough for small group of 6. The portion has shrink and quality dropped...a bit from last visit. It's still a fair option when you dine in the area. For lobster or oyster, you have to place advance booking to ensure availability. Service is often good an... View all feedback.
Seem like a secret tiny restaurant with hidden menus and private wines. Complete Cantonese style, both interior decorations as well as background music. Delicious food and a surprise after dinner.
Like a secret, tiny restaurant that belongs to the city in Kung Fu Panda movie. We were served before dinner with Chinese tea and chicken soup, a daily special Chinese dessert (or soup) after dinner. All these freelancies complete the whole experience completely, which is quite rare in the region Sydney, especially at this price level. And it is always fast. So surprised and highly recommended!
Was already here and the food is always good and consistent. The owner is just beautiful and always gives the best free desserts. It may not be a seafood restaurant, but your fish is always attenuated to perfection. Will continue here.
Request the Chinese menu, and you're in for a delightful experience. If you stick to the 'regular/Western' menu, you might wonder why Choys has such a great reputation!
Awesome food and service. Their food is amazing this is judged base on authentic Chinese dishes, NOT dishes like honey chicken or black bean beef. The portion is large and the boss is very friendly, he offered us some amazing dishes that are not on the menu, also he has given us some secret dessert as well that you can never find anywhere else in the world! It is definitely going to be one of my must revisit restaurant in Sydney :
