You might think that in Missouri, your best bet is to find a burger and fries, but don’t miss out on this gem. We’ve dined at many upscale restaurants from St. Louis to Nashville, but the food at Wine Rack was exceptional, with the chef's finesse truly shining through. The exterior may not look impressive, but inside, it’s a culinary wonderland where you can easily lose yourself. Treat yourself to their fantastic steaks or opt for a simpler pasta dish; everything is expertly crafted, just as you would expect from the finest kitchens in the world. If you have some free time during your trip or are looking for an excellent spot for a chic date night, this is the place to go. Great service, great food, and an overall wonderful restaurant experience.
Our waiter was friendly and managed all the tables by himself, which is no small feat. He remembered our orders accurately and checked in on us frequently. I decided to try the $6 wine flight instead of my usual whiskey. I'm not a fan of wine, so I probably wouldn’t order it again, but for that price, it was a great deal. Next time, I plan to explore their selection of cider. My husband and friends sampled a German beer and a Brazilian beer, and they preferred the German one. For appetizers, we chose cheese with olives and a fruit puree. The cheese wasn’t too strong—it had a pleasant, bright Cheddar taste—although I think it might have been Mozzarella. It came wrapped in a light and soft croissant that was wonderfully buttery. For our main course, we ordered a Reuben sandwich with au jus sauce, along with grilled asparagus and cheese risotto. My husband enjoyed the Reuben, noting its rich roast beef flavor and the tasty cheese. The asparagus, while small, was delicious, but the risotto wasn’t fully cooked, so we left some behind. The aromas were lovely, but it still had a solid texture. We also shared a steak dinner with vegetables. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium, just as ordered, and the vegetables were well-prepared, properly seasoned, and not overcooked. Our friends, who have been in the area for three weeks and have tried many different places, declared this their favorite meal, praising the steak as perfect. I’m giving this place a five-star rating because everything was wonderful. We would definitely return! The bartender truly knows how to make a proper Manhattan. I ordered the ribs while my wife chose the filet. This restaurant is definitely a go-to for us when we're in the area. If anyone asks why I would visit Poplar Bluff, my answer would be, “Absolutely for dinner at The Wine Rack!” Thank you for a wonderful meal!
This place exceeded my expectations! I initially thought it would have a formal atmosphere based on the pictures, but I was completely mistaken. The staff was friendly, the vibe was relaxed, and the food was fantastic!
This is a fantastic spot to relax with some cocktails and enjoy a semi-upscale meal. Just keep in mind that the service tends to be slow, so be prepared for a wait.
