Nestled in a vibrant location near shops and the beach, this quirky guesthouse offers a mixed experience. While some rooms are compact and show signs of wear, guests commend the cleanliness and the warm hospitality of the staff, particularly during breakfast. Although the breakfast is freshly cooked, opinions vary on its variety and quality. The steep stairs and paid parking can be a drawback, especially for those with mobility issues or larger luggage. Overall, with friendly service and a cozy atmosphere, this B&B presents a decent option for travelers seeking character and convenience at a reasonable price.

Was Stronghead at No. 34 a mag?
The café/hotel is quite quirky, as many have mentioned, but the staff is incredibly welcoming and trustworthy. We stayed in room number 2, which was a good size, had a lovely breakfast, and was a great deal at less than £80 per night for 2 people. Parking is easy with car parks just a few minutes' walk away. What TONE1111111111111111 dislikes about No. 34:
The rooms require some updating, with a loose tap, broken shower door, and insecure toilet seat. There is also visible mold around the windows. The stairs are very steep and there is no free parking, as guests must pay in the multi-storey lot. The breakfast is okay, but it is recommended to check your room before staying. View all feedback.
Ok so the best thing about staying here was meeting Michael who made the breakfast. The accommodation is tiny and tired. We arrived and it was pouring with rain outside. The guest house was cold and there was no way of turning the heating on. The rooms are very tired. The furniture mismatched. The place was spotless also down to the work of Michael and the other cleaning staff. Breakfast which In other reviews was deemed good was ok. Well cooked but not screaming local produce. The continental breakfast was poor. Cereal, orange juice and toast does not a continental breakfast make. I regret the whole package is overpriced and we wish we had gone to a Travel Lodge. We opted for the cafe as the pictures suggested somewhere with character and good food. Disappointed.
On the positive side our host was very pleasant, the breakfast was first class, it was in a great location very close to pubs, shops, the beach front and the bed comfortable. On the negative side. On arrival there was nobody at the B&B so we had to ring them and get a key code to let ourselves in, you have to pay to park about 150 metres from the B&B, which cost us £9.00 to park overnight. The stairs are steep and narrow, we were lucky we only had backpacks. The bedroom was tiny, the bathroom although modern was even smaller, the window was kept open by a mini aluminium bathtub and it was noisy. Our stay was on a Saturday night, so we had loud drunks until the early hours of the morning then the street sweeper started from 6 am. Our cost was $250.00 (approx £125.00) which I believe is overpriced.
Stayed in this B&B for two nights. Wanted something central for a family event. For the price this was a great B&B. There were great things about this place, and a few cons. Pros: The location. Price compared to other hotels. The host (Michael). Breakfast. Comfy bed. Fairly quiet. Clean. Toiletries. Access after hours. Multi story parking nearby (cost us £18 from Friday night to Sunday lunch time). Cons: Our room was very small (I know there are larger rooms). Bathroom small. Shower lacked power. Tight stairs getting up to room. Overall it was a great little B&B. Not for you though if you have mobility issues or cannot navigate around very tight spaces.
Just came back from a weekend here and it was a lovely little place, great location, big and cleans rooms and cafe downstairs was lovely. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Would definitely come back!!
We stayed at this restaurant for one night while traveling along the South coast. The lady who checked us in gave us a warm welcome with no issues. The restaurant is conveniently located near shops and restaurants. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious with a variety of options, served by a friendly man who was very helpful with local information. Overall, it was a good value for the money. I would definitely come back.
