The staff, mostly local high school or summer job college students, are friendly and eager to please. While the food may not be anything extraordinary, it is still a good value. Just be aware that they don't open until 3pm for most of the season.
I have been living in the area for several years now and had no idea about this hidden gem! The restaurant is cozy, with a menu that is not too overwhelming but still offers many popular dishes. I tried the barbecue sandwich and it was delicious. The portion sizes are just right and the prices are very reasonable. The view is also beautiful, with the restaurant being located near the Kickapoo River.
Very scenic but don't try to go on sat morning when the canoe rentals are busy
