Nestled by the seaside, The Captain's Table boasts a stunning atmosphere complemented by friendly staff and dog-friendly policies. While the setting enchants with its Scandi-inspired décor and inviting seating, the food presents a mixed bag. Diners have praised flavorful dishes like the BBQ chicken pizza and truffle parmesan chips but lamented over cold, greasy scampi and meager portions. Service experiences vary, with some noting delays and rudeness, while others commend attentiveness. Although the restaurant excels in ambiance and beverage selection, a call for improved food quality echoes through the reviews, aiming to align with its picturesque setting.
The restaurant has a fantastic setting with beautiful seating and tables, and the staff were nice. They were very accommodating for dogs as well. The atmosphere was excellent. However, the food was disappointing. We ordered two scampi and chips at £15 each, but the chips were cold and greasy and the salad only consisted of lettuce and a small tomato. The scampi was greasy and oddly shaped, and even the tartare sauce was flavorless. Overall, I would recommend the Captains Table to improve their food quality to match their great atmosphere. Located at the tip of Findhorn, this cafe is a fantastic spot with a great selection of food and drinks. It is also dog friendly, making it a perfect place for pet owners. After dining, take a walk down to the shore for a lovely experience. The parking situation can be a bit tricky as the track to the car park next to the restaurant is a bit rough, but there is another car park on the right just before it, next to the motorhome site. The service is top-notch, with a rating of 5 out of 5. The atmosphere is also excellent, earning another 5 out of 5 rating. The price per person for a meal is around £20-30. Some recommended dishes include the Fish Finger Sandwich. Overall, this cafe comes highly recommended for a delicious meal. Free parking is available in the parking lot.
Compared to last year at the same time, the restaurant has declined in quality, especially in terms of their seafood options. The average cost per person for a meal is between £1 and £10.
This place took me back to my youth, it reminded me of the local teenage hang out, it is worn and tired looking in much need of a fresh coat of paint and some tlc. Its a shame because its in a prime location but feels neglected and dated. The door between areas was constantly banged shut by through traffic which was very annoying. The food was reasonable but nothing special and I'm sure I have been to better fish and chip shops with a more varied menu. Please give this place a make over inside and out, its screaming out for some love and attention. Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 2 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £20–30
