Was Al H at Basille's a mag?
If you like thin sliced pizza you're going to love Basilles. Then you have the sauce which is out of this world. To get a pizza this good you'd have to go to Staten Island or Brooklyn but not really because that's where Basilles started out. So if you think you have to travel far for a great thin slice that doesn't flop, you'd be wrong. Now Middletown, New Jersey has the best pizza around. View all feedback.
What Nana dislikes about Basille's:
The prices were extremely high—$15.99 for just five chicken wings! I had to wait 20 minutes for my French fries after they served the wings. All of that, plus a bottle of water, came to $25, which is outrageous. Also, be sure to check the seasonings on the side. I definitely won't be returning! Food rating: 2/5. View all feedback.
Insanely good pizza. Had the cheese slice and a Sicilian square. Good crisp crust, fresh sauce and you can tell they use quality cheese.
I ordered the Artichoke pie because I had heard that Basille's is renowned for it. While I was waiting, I noticed the pepperoni slice with those tiny little pepperoni cups, and I couldn't resist getting one! It was fantastic! I took the Artichoke pie home along with a couple of Grandma slices, which I reheated the next day. I have to say, I really love their sauce; it has a lovely light caramelization, which I also noticed on the pepperoni slice. Even after reheating, the crust maintained its delightful foldable and soft crispy texture. The Artichoke pie was very tasty, rich, and satisfying. I would have enjoyed it even more if the edge crust had been a bit more bready and puffed up — I know "puffed" might not be the best term for describing pizza crust, but those who understand will get what I mean.
Wow! I can confidently say I won't be eating Sicilian pizza from anywhere else after trying Basile's! The sauce is incredibly delicious, the crust is both crunchy and flavorful, and the cheese is perfectly balanced. This is hands down the best pizza I've had in ages, and I'm saying this as a true Brooklyn girl! I can't get enough of it. I've also tried several of their pasta dishes, which are delightful too. You really can't go wrong here!
Just moved into the area. Born in Brooklyn (L&B), lived many years in S.I., I think I know good pizza and this place has it. Great crust, tasty sauce and good cheese. There's no oily runoff like when they use the cheap stuff. Haven't tried anything but the pizza and calzones and both were good. Even got some dough to make stromboli at home and it was perfect. In fact, I think I'll order some now for dinner. Yum.
The best pizza slice in Monmouth County, without a doubt. The vodka slice is absolutely incredible!
