Wonderful little find! The noodles here were all quite good be it the satay noodles, curry noodles, pho, or non soup based vermicelli rice noodles. The salads were average and needed a bit more refinement. Otherwise, a descent cheap eat in Ascot Vale to try out. View all feedback.

We go to Hem every week have been doing that for nearly months sometimes take away sometimes eat in. We love it normally every thing all the other reviewers mention. Tonight was so different I asked if it had changed hands?...Rude unfriendly service and the food was awful. When traveling for work we like to make the most of the trip and dine locally and so this week's journey was to the race course up north.
Wow! regretting I hadn't tried this local soonerI had home delivery but cant wait to dine in.
Lovely food, great service, plenty parking spaces, authentic Vietnamese food. they make hot sour fish soup which is hard to find sometimes in small Vietnamese restaurants. try it it's really yummy
My score 3.75 stars. J I had lunch here on Tue 26th Feb. Slightly hard to spot – H27 is nestled b/w Bamboo garden Epsom Rd. A nice set up, low stools but comfortable – bag baskets underneath (which is a nice touch . Cutlery, etc was nice. <br/ <br/ J had Vego pho Huge (nicely shaped bowl, a bargain at $11.80 ! It contained nice interesting mushrooms (poss King oyster? , largish carrot but properly cooked (so ok , snow peas, broccoli wombok (nice . The fried tofu slices were a bit bland there weren’t heaps of them. There were PLENTY of flat rice noodles, which were very silky (yum , but pretty soft (anymore they would be too soft – it was borderline . It also had 5 spice flavouring (which I thought unusual? although not my fav spice, it was perfectly in balance so was ok! Accompanying sides were: bean sprouts, Thai basil, lemon (not enough chopped red chilli. Although written on the menu, the waiter was nice asked if butter was ok in the dish (re: being a vego dish . Overall J enjoyed it!<br/ <br/ I had Vermicelli salad w Shrimp Surimi (prawn mince wrapped in bean curd sheet deep fried YUM ! It also contained julienned carrot cucumber (prefer bigger – didn’t have a lot of impact , peanuts, fried shallots, a few bean shoots, HEAPS of shredded Iceberg lettuce (didn’t like really – too much . Dressing was good VERY spicy!!! NO HERBS so pinched a few from J’s pho. Despite this, overall it was still good due to the dressing surimi! <br/ <br/ Quarter of a star taken off for cleaning a table nearby with strong smelly chemicals !<br/ <br/ Quarter of a star added back for the fab instrumental piano background music “We are the champions” being the highlight . <br/ <br/ We’ll be back…
I love going to this restaurant no matter the weather. My go-to dish is the bun bo hue, but they have a lot more to offer than just broth and rice noodles. Their snack bo la lot is also delicious, it's like a fermented sausage wrapped in betel leaf and grilled. It has a unique aroma and taste, especially when paired with the flavorful dressing. They also have a selection of vegetarian dishes that are not to be overlooked on the menu.
