Our group visited Monilli at four o’clock just for refreshment. We had the pilsener beer that gave the name for this kind Pilsner Urquell. I have to say that it is perfectly served in cooled and clean glass and in very good shape. It is nice to see that on Elba they can serve this beer as it should be.
A little bit hard to find if walking up through the village more signs please! However it is right next to the old castle which has a carpark if you dont feel like the walk. The restaurant is perched on the side of the hill and overlooks the chairlift and valley, a very calming view with a lovely gentle breeze. There is indoors as well. The food is simple but beautifully prepared dishes full of flavour. We had the house egg pasta with beef ragu. Perfect. Lyn had to try the chocolate torte OK I had some too. Delicious. The house wine and coffee were goo. Service was friendly and efficient. Lovely people.
Remembering good old schaiccine. New owner. New chef. Give them a chance. Might be better next time.
We made a quick stop at La Rosteria for coffee. We also tried some delicious homemade pastries. It was a dream. The view is unique. Highly recommended. I can't comment on the food, as we only had cappuccino.
