We read in an article that they have the best fish and chips in Nova Scotia and yeah they were great. We had five people with us and we got a 3 piece and a 2 piece for 18 dollars ($10 for the 3 and $8 for the 2 and a 1 piece is only $6) and they gave us so many fries it was great and the fries are AMAZING some of the best fries I've ever had. Wife won't let me stop here to often when we're up in the summer - have to watch the old beach bod now that we're getting up there.
The restaurant serves the most delicious Newfoundland poutine. The service is quick, and the family members work efficiently together to prepare the food for customers.
We read that you could get really goof Fish & Chips at the Chip Ship, so we stopped there on Sunday around 5 pm. Waited interminably for F & C and a wrap. Others came and went before we finally got our order. Nearly eaten alive by mosquitoes. You could smell the greasy oil used out in the yard. Someone inside was continually coughing. Wrap was meager; the beer batter fish, while quite tasty, was somehow both crispy and oily at the same time; and the home fries were limp and greasy. Almost inedible, but we were ravenous so we ate what we could and left. Never again. Waste of $15. Mind you, the Diet Coke was good.
We had a fantastic dinner at this restaurant with very reasonable prices. The staff was friendly and accommodating, despite our limited French and their limited English. They even had half bottles of wine available. The quiche was delicious.
On our way home from Nova Scotia to PEI and we came across the CHIP SHIP! Very cool spot, canteen on a ship! My husband and I shared an order of onion rings and 3 pc fish and chips! The onion rings and fish and chips were great; however the batter on the fish was a little heavy. The fish was excellent, very tasty. The serving size was great with enough to feed both of us. There are picnic tables to eat on location. Price was great!
