Barnwood - Lagrange
Barnwood
Description
Barnwood offers a unique blend of dining experiences, with patrons encountering both highlights and disappointments. While many rave about the delicious calamari, loaded mac and cheese, and generous portion sizes, others express frustration over long waits and lackluster flavors, particularly with certain entrees. Reservation challenges appear prevalent, as non-hotel guests often find themselves turned away despite empty tables. Service experiences vary widely, with some praising attentive staff, while others feel neglected. Overall, while Barnwood holds promise with its appealing dishes and family-friendly atmosphere, inconsistencies in food quality and service may leave some diners seeking alternatives.

Food was not good. Steak was over cooked we sent it back and had been there for so long just said we didn't want another. Loaded Mac was flavorless. And I really wanted it to be good. The boys wouldn't eat their Mac and cheese or chicken. Service was ehhh. Not terrible not great. Hostess was mean as we arrive to our reservation ten mins earlier so we went outside for ten mins and came back and then we got forgotten for ten mins . Don't go. It's just too much money, go to one of the actual restaurants in Lagrange or eat pizza at the pizza place. It was good.
We made reservations for 8pm get sat and several people walked by and did say a word. They are short staffed so less than half the restaurant was full. We left. All and all the resort is short staffed. So sorry I have no review on the food.
It’s essential to have a reservation at this restaurant. Unfortunately, we didn’t have one because every time we called, we were directed back to the hotel reservation line. As local residents, we decided to go anyway since their Google listing doesn’t state that reservations are needed. However, even with several empty tables in the restaurant, we were informed that they were fully booked for the evening. It seems clear that they do not welcome non-hotel guests for dinner.
Initially, I was going to give 1 star, but kudos to the manager and the kind hostess for their excellent customer service. I placed a to-go order for the Quinoa Salad while the rest of my family ate pizza, thinking we had planned perfectly. I ordered at 5:45 and was told to return in 25-30 minutes. When I came back, they hadn’t started my order yet and asked me to come back in 15 more minutes. After returning again, it still wasn’t ready. I waited over an hour and asked once more. The manager then apologized, explaining the kitchen was overwhelmed and they had just started my appetizer. He gave me a discount on my meal, which I appreciated since waiting over an hour after being told 25 minutes wasn’t ideal. The dinner was great, and I would definitely eat here again. Hopefully, they can improve their timing so future customers don’t have to wait so long.
The staff and food at Barnwood were outstanding. The receptionists and our server were incredibly kind, and the team who brought our food was fantastic. It was a truly wonderful experience. I was initially worried because of some other reviews, but it turned out to be excellent. My sister and I shared the Wild Mushroom Pappardelle, which was absolutely delicious! We started with the calamari appetizer, my two older sons enjoyed the 16 oz. Bone-in Ribeye, and the little ones had hamburgers, chicken fingers, and grilled cheese. Everything was perfect—thank you so much; it was definitely one of the highlights of our trip.
