Murchison House Station is a 350,000-acre pastoral station located just a short drive from the coastal resort town of Kalbarri, 650 km north of Perth, Western Australia. Visitors can immerse themselves in unique local history, wildlife, and wildflowers (in season) on this 150-year-old working station. The station offers camping from April to October each year, with the historic Homestead situated on the southern banks of the Murchison River, surrounded by large shady gum trees. Campers can set up right by the rivers edge, with over 60 km of rugged Indian Ocean shoreline and 30 km of Murchison River flood plains to explore. Thanks to a plentiful water supply from numerous permanent soaks and springs, the area is teeming with wildlife and birdlife. The diverse terrain ranges from coastal sand plains and dunes to river gorge country featuring the stunning red Tumblagooda sandstone. Murchison House Station is the perfect place where the outback meets the ocean, offering an adventurous and intriguing camping experience in your 4WD vehicle. Less than a day's drive from Perth, this pristine wilderness is waiting to be explored and appreciated.

Amazing place, so peaceful and relaxing. We camped right on the edge of the river just upstream from the homestead in an area called Horse Flats West. Beautiful area that was fairly flat with grass and plenty of ghost gums for shade. The track in was rocky and there was a steep downhill entrance to get onto the flats. Getting out could have been tricky but we found the Frypan Track was a much easier way of exiting th... View all feedback.

caution to those BOOKING FOR EASTER. 4 years in a row it has flooded over the river crossing causing cancellations of reservations. it will also cost you the non refundable $30 admin fee which is a bit rich. View all feedback.
