The restaurant is cozy and comfortable with plenty of windows overlooking Portage Creek. The prices are very reasonable... View all feedback.
Deborah C.'s review from a year ago is still spot on! My friend and I visited the restaurant on January 17th and found a line outside. Despite a slight delay in service due to a new crew, the wait was well worth it. The pairings were fantastic and we highly recommend giving this place a try!
If you haven't yet experienced the student-run 418 restaurant within Kalamazoo Valley's culinary program, you are missing out! Students manage both the front and back of the house as part of their culinary education, planning, preparing, and serving incredible meals such as the soy and honey glazed salmon with crispy multicolored potatoes and pickled asparagus with mushrooms. The salmon was cooked perfectly, tender and flavorful. The combination of soy and honey was delicious! The deep-fried white, yellow, and purple potatoes were seasoned with lemon zest, garlic, and parsley, giving them a unique flavor that the students can elaborate on. Don't miss out on the beer and food pairings at Tuesday Taps events, where students brew their own beers and have even won national awards. A special aspect of dining at 418 is that your tips contribute to the student scholarship fund, so be generous, indulge in fine dining, and support students on their educational journey. Reservations for dinner are highly recommended.
