Nestled in Julian, this restaurant presents a mixed bag of dining experiences. While some guests have enjoyed hearty portions and friendly, attentive service, others have suffered through inedible dishes and disappointing flavors. The atmosphere is often described as dim and cave-like, contributing to an underwhelming dining experience. Many dishes, from the pulled pork to the omelets, have been criticized for their lack of seasoning and poor quality. Despite some positive notes about the welcoming staff and unique candy store entrance, the consensus leans toward regret over dining choices, leaving uncertain prospects for return visits.
The Turkey was way too salty, the mashed potatoes bland and the cider far sweeter than others I've tried. It was annoying that we were informed once we sat that they were completely out of tri-tip instead of telling us during the wait time. I personally wouldn't recommend this place.
The waitresses offered outstanding service and I enjoyed the most delicious fish and chips I have ever had.
The food at this restaurant was average at best. Our dishes were overcooked, lacking in flavor, and dry. However, the standout was the waitress who provided exceptional service. The entire staff was incredibly kind and went above and beyond. Overall, the dine-in experience for dinner was priced between $20-30 per person.
Rong Branch Restaurant in Julian, CA Great food. You won?t be disappointed. We ordered liver and onions, perfectly cooked and flavorful. Also ordered Fish and Chips? sooo good! The crunchy outer shell and the delicate white fish inside is tasty, notgreasy. It?s the ultimate comfort food!
The customer service was just okay. The hostess/manager seemed to really be trying to make up for the lack of customer service her team could provide. Our server brought us waters and rushed us into ordering food right away because ?the kitchen is busy.? She didn?t even bother asking us for drink orders even though the tables next to us were able to order ciders, sodas, teas, andcoffees, etc. We had to ask the server to take drink orders, but even then, she didn?t ask the rest of our table of 7 if anyoneelse wanted anything other than water. The kitchen staff takes WAY too long to service an order. We waited over an hour forour orders, and what we got for what we waited for was terrible. The cooks seem inexperienced to cook what?s on therestaurant?s menu. The bbq ribs were not prepared correctly prior to cooking it. Once they believed the ribs were done, theydumped about a cup of barbecue sauce over it and called it a day. The country fried steak was covered in cooking oil, so therewas no apparent attempt to strain the food before they plated it. The ?baked beans? seemed (and tasted) like canned beans plusketchup. We made the mistake of going here because it also had a gift shop, but none of the items inside were local. You canfind all of the gift shop items at a gas station, and the gas station?s food would probably be better.
