Was Anonym at Rijo a mag?
We had the most time tonight. From the second we felt so special. I almost cried when I saw that they printed our own menus that said happy anniversary! We made the Prix Fixe menu and everything we had was absolutely perfect. The wine pairings were also amazing and our server was very well informed about everything he served. I cannot recommend this place enough if you are in Honolulu you need to come here!! View all feedback.
What Anonym dislikes about Rijo:
When we arrived in the afternoon, it felt like there was almost nothing left at the buffet. We had to wait for the salad and the miso soup, and no sushi was replenished. However, what we did eat was delicious, and the service was excellent. View all feedback.

When we arrived at 7:30, the restaurant was nearly empty and incredibly quiet, which felt a bit awkward. The buffet was decent, but for $55 per person, I expected a nicer presentation and a wider selection. Overall, the food was good and plentiful, but it was strange how the staff seemed to completely ignore us, as they never came by to take drink orders. After waiting for over 30 minutes, when someone finally approached us to take a wine order, another staff member came to our table with two open bottles of wine. He informed us that the options were unavailable, but offered us the chance to taste one of the open bottles. It was unclear whether we were supposed to take the open bottle or if we would receive an unopened one. By 8:30, they closed the restaurant around us (on New Year's Eve) and began clearing the food away. What could have been a delightful evening ended up feeling a bit odd and disappointing. At least the staff had the chance to finish their work early and celebrate New Year's elsewhere.
My parents really love this restaurant, so we took my father to Rijo for his special day. I’m not sure if it was due to the post-Christmas rush, but our dinner there on December 26th was quite disappointing. It seemed like there were only one front waiter and three back waiters working, and the front waiter appeared overwhelmed, possibly due to inexperience, as he apologized frequently. They ran out of the Christmas Island dish from the skalopps menu and forgot one of our starters until almost the end of the meal. I had a much better experience when I came here for brunch on Mother’s Day. Overall, I was not impressed with our dinner on December 26th, and I also noticed that there are not many options for children on the menu.
When we arrived at noon, it felt like we were getting the remnants of the buffet, as there were barely any dishes remaining. We had to wait for the salads and miso soup, and no sushi was restocked. However, what we did eat was quite delicious, and the service was excellent.
First, I received a call the day before New Year’s informing me that it would be a buffet. One of my friends decided not to come after discovering there were very few vegetarian options, and paying $55 for a salad and dessert didn’t sit well with her. Unfortunately, since we only learned about the buffet the day prior, there wasn't much time to find an alternative restaurant for that evening. When we arrived at 7:30 PM, the restaurant was nearly empty, and the quiet atmosphere made it feel even more desolate. The buffet was decent, but given the $55 price tag, I expected it to be presented more elegantly and offer a wider variety of options. Overall, the food was good, and there was plenty of it since the place wasn’t busy at all. The odd part was that the staff seemed to want to avoid us entirely; they didn’t come by to take our drink orders. After more than 30 minutes of waiting, we managed to flag someone down to order a bottle of wine. A different staff member then approached with two open bottles, telling us the one we wanted was unavailable and suggesting we taste the ones he had. It was unclear whether we would receive an unopened bottle or if we were expected to choose from the already opened ones. By 8:30, they started closing the restaurant around us (on New Year’s Eve), clearing away all the food. What could have been a lovely evening turned out to be rather strange and disappointing. At least the staff got to leave early and celebrate New Year’s somewhere.
