What Anonym dislikes about Mandarin:
Been desperately looking for a decent Chinese that delivers to Northwood. I find Tai Pan Express bland and boring every time and had given up until I came across Mandarin. I would describe the food as home style cooking , really tasty, fresh and decent portion size. Just need Deliveroo to get it to me hot so I don’t have to blast it in the micro for 1 min. As usual, the table was terrible when dining with just two people. The food was incredibly salty and the wrong order took a long time to rectify. Overall, this Chinese restaurant was not authentic and too expensive for the low quality of food. I would not return.
We were excited for a special Christmas treat and ordered the duck with pancakes and extras at this restaurant. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed to find that there was no plum sauce, which is a crucial part of enjoying the duck dish. We reached out to Uber for a refund, but were only given a measly $4.99 compensation. This was a meal on Christmas Eve, and we feel we deserve a full refund. On Sunday, December 18th, my family, consisting of 4 adults (2 visiting from abroad and wanting to treat myself and my partner), along with 2 kids, wanted to go out for a nice meal. I called to book a table for 6:30pm. The lady on the phone informed me that it was fully booked until 10pm. Curious, I decided to walk to Northwood Hills (a 5-minute walk from my house) at 6:30pm. As you can see from my photo, the restaurant was completely empty. We were very disappointed by this, as we love their food, are frequent visitors, and have spent a lot of money over time either in the restaurant or through takeout.
Celebrated a 23rd Birthday at Mandarin. Food was excellent and the service very attentive. Also plenty of options for the vegetarians in the group.
Please don’t order online from this restaurant. The order never arrived even 30 mins after the scheduled delivery time. First time I called to follow up I was told that the driver had left the restaurant. I then called 20 mins later and was told the driver had several deliveries and would be at mine Amy minute. I called a 3rd time 10 mins later to cancel my order and was told the driver was outside but clearly wasn’t. Terrible string of excuses. I’m never ordering from this place again nor visiting. Since it changed management a few years ago it’s been diabolical for in house dining as well. Definitely one to avoid !
