Johnel's - Hammond
Johnel's
Description
Johnel's restaurant has become a mixed bag of experiences, oscillating between delightful and disappointing. While some patrons rave about dishes like the skillet and lemon rice soup, others lament the decline in food quality and service. Initial fan favorites such as the turkey bacon and toast now seem inconsistent, and the ambiance has been criticized as lacking. However, attentive servers and a welcoming atmosphere still shine through for many, making repeat visits worthwhile for some families. As Johnel's navigates its evolving reputation, it remains a culinary hope for locals and travelers alike.

First time going and I Actually enjoyed my time there. The Employees were Very Polite and Professional. The food was Awesome. I had the breakfast combo and the biscuits and gravy combo. It was so good. And the prices were very reasonable. I enjoyed that place it made me feel like I was back at home. I will be going back.
Great breakfast. Service was a little slow but food was fresh and well cooked. Restaurant is clean. Good place to stop for a meal if your passing through on 80/94. The next similar place on that corridor that isn’t overly expensive or in an incredibly busy area is quite a ways.
Home cooked dishes with friendly service. They had the fresh lake perch and I’ve always been told to try it when I’m up by the Great Lakes. I did and it did not disappoint! The portion size was more than enough.
We had an excellent breakfast experience at the restaurant today! We were seated promptly and our waitress was very friendly, though I regret not catching her name. My mother and I shared the skillet, and it was the best I've ever had. The food was hot and absolutely delicious. The chocolate chip pancakes were delightful as well. My son's Belgian waffle came with a whipped cream smiley face on top, which was a lovely touch for him. We can't wait to come back soon!
