My wife and I sat down to excellent Schnitzel here recently. The atmosphere was very 'gemutlisch'. The air was filled with delicious smells and warm laughter. It's definitely warmer down in the main room. The upstairs is a little cooler and quieter but you're going to have to duck a bit if you're over 5'8! The food was delicious. Our server was a little inexperienced and possessed no English at all (which isn't points against, but my German is poor, so as a tourist in a tourist town I always appreciate a little help with the wine list or the specials of the day). The do have an English menu which was quite helpful. All in all, an excellent night. Delicious food and a very authentic cultural experience!
I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this experience.The restaurant is set in a very old building in Buxtehude. The atmosphere is homely and cosy - though it can get very warm inside. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and produced an English menu when requested. There is a lot of choice on the menu; I tried the Weinerschnitzel (Vierländer Style), which was very good. Portion size was very generous, I was stuffed to the gills and couldn't finish the plate. A big, hearty, homely meal. I can't wait to go back.
Have been here a few time and it's always nice to eat in an old world charm with really good food and friendly helpful staff. if possible try and get a table upstairs but mind your head.... low ceiling .one of the oldest building in Buxtehude.After you have enjoyed a really good meal just next door is a nice wine bar to finish the evening.
Service was a bit slow but the people were very friendly and the food was good The portions were large as a matter fact the burger was too big to eat...
